The Piano of Life
Life is like a piano—
a beautiful row of black and white,
some notes bright as morning,
some carrying the shadows of night.
We do not choose every key
that waits beneath our hands.
Some sound like laughter,
some like sorrow,
some we never quite understand.
But life is not about
playing only the beautiful notes.
It is learning to make music
from whatever the moment brings.
There are pauses between the notes—
quiet spaces we sometimes fear.
Yet without the silence,
the melody would disappear.
Some days we play softly,
afraid to touch the keys.
Some days we play boldly,
and let the music carry us free.
We make mistakes.
We strike a note too hard,
miss a chord,
lose our rhythm.
But the music does not end.
We breathe.
We begin again.
And sometimes the imperfect note
becomes part of the song.
Perhaps that is the secret of life:
We are not given
the same piano,
the same song,
or the same number of years.
What matters is
how we play the keys
we have been given.
So let us play gently.
Let us play courageously.
Let us listen to the pauses.
Let us cherish the melody.
And when the final note comes,
may we look back and say:
I did not play every note perfectly—
but I played my song.
And oh, what a beautiful journey
it was.
